Elementary Car Pool Safety

Carpool Safety

One of our top priorities at school is to keep your students safe. Over the past few weeks, we have noticed a few concerns during drop-off, and during both half-day and full-day pick-up, that we would like to address to help keep your students safe.

  • When you pull into the school parking lot, please follow the snake pattern instead of cutting through parking spots. This will keep an orderly flow in the lot and avoid unnecessary close calls.
  • There have been multiple times we have noticed people waiting for students and covering up our crosswalks. As you park and wait in line, please be conscious of where those are.
  • In the morning, during drop off, if your student needs assistance out of the car, please park in a spot and walk them in.
  • For our half-day friends, if you are wanting to stay a little longer so your kids can play, and you can chat with other parents; feel free to do so, but please remember not to leave your car in the pick-up area. You can either move your car further down the sidewalk near the stairs, or park in a parking spot. The area in front of the door needs to remain accessible to other parents, deliveries, and emergency vehicles.
  • Finally, please do not exit your vehicle while you are in the pickup line. If you need to assist your student with buckling their seat belt, please pull forward, park in the gravel lot, and help them there.

We thank you all for working together to make our school a safe place for everyone.

Last Call for Spring “1-2” Art Club!

This is the last call for your 1st or 2nd grader to join us for the Spring Art Club for grades 1 – 2. Mr. Ken Johanson will be leading this club. Ken has been leading art clubs, teaching, and substitute teaching for several years at Westminster. Students will meet in the elementary art classroom. Art Club will meet on 4 Wednesdays – March 15, 22 & April 5, 12  from 3 – 4 p.m. There are limited spots available. The first 20 students who register will be signed up to participate. There are only a few spots left! The elementary office will contact you to let you know if your student receives a spot in art club. Click here to find the registration form. There will be no paper registration sent home. We have transitioned the registration form to be online.

If you are interested in volunteering to help Mr. Johanson during Art Club he would love to have the extra hands. No art experience is needed. These hours can count towards your service hours for financial aid. If you are interested in volunteering please reach out to Lauren Soules in the Elementary Office and let her know.

Elementary Fine Arts Night MOVED to May 16

Due to multiple scheduling conflicts, we have had to reschedule the Elementary Spring Fine Arts Night. It has been moved to Tuesday, May 16 at 6:30 pm. We look forward to hearing the joy-filled songs that our students will have worked on throughout this semester and hope that you will be able to join us on the new night.
